This last weekend I got to visit my mother again. I usualy don't get to see her a lot, because she lives quite far away (okay, okay, far away for Dutch standards). But after making a four hour trip with public transportation, I always try to make the most of it.
The weekend started of on friday evening, after a busy day of work at the office. I did take quite some time though to get ready to go the trainstation; i.e. I forgot to pack a bag ealier (sorry mom). Lucky for me, all the traines where on time and I actually got to relax a little by reading a book thats been om my tbr-list for a long time. Taking the train instate of driving a car does have its advantages. When I arrived at my final stop, my mother was kindly waiting there for me to pick me up (thank you mom). It was definity a long but rewarding day.
The saturday started out strong with a workout at the gym; yes, we can't skip even on vacation ;) A friend was kind enough to let me tack along - and he even took a few pictures for me. And, what do you thing of my form? I'll definity work on slowly increasing the weight. Do you have any fitness goals for this year? Mine is to be able to carry my own weight (I still have a looonng way to go).
To make the day even a little more productive, we spend the afternoon at my moms office. She still had work that needed to be finished and I got to work on a complete new desing for this website (and, what do you think? Did it turn out well?). But don't wory, we didn't spend all our time working. We also got some great cakes to have with a late lunch. I always love using this time to chat with my mom and catch up a little on what keeps our time occupied.
After coming back to my moms place and having a small dinner, we went out for some fun (and more excercise). No, we didn't go out for drinks; we went swimming (although you probably guessed that from the picture). It has been such a long time since I did that; It was truly time well spend.
At this point in time, you must be wondering where the title of this post came from. Well it comes from the activities on sunday. My mom and I toke my moms trusty Canta out for a drive. I even got to drive the car myself. Driving around in the east of the Netherlands (near Emmen) on the bike paths made me once again realise how beautiful the Netherlands actualy is. We drove through some of the wide spread fields and we even say some cute horses (did you notice that I couldn't resist taking a picture?). The amount of clouds also gradually became more as we came closer to our final destination, the trainstop to take me home once again. I got there right on time and just as the train was leaving the station the rain started to fall. The weather seemed to agree with the sentiment of going home again.
What do you think, should I plan an other trip to this region again soon?
